Some renovations are about fixing what isn't working. This one was about revealing what the space could become.
This whole-home condo renovation in Northville, Michigan touched every room across two floors. The design called for a palette that felt calm and cohesive from front door to primary bath, without ever tipping into the kind of safe neutrals that leave a space feeling anonymous.
The foundation is Benjamin Moore White Dove throughout, a warm white that breathes without disappearing. Against it, Sherwin Williams Urbane Bronze appears on select accent walls, its depth giving individual rooms a sense of enclosure and intention. Bathrooms receive their own quiet moment in Benjamin Moore Apparition, a soft gray with just enough blue undertone to feel genuinely restful.
The fireplace brick, often an afterthought in renovation work, was transformed with Romabio Masonry Flat in a two-tone application of Chocolate Fix and Going Greige, a limewash-style treatment that honors the texture of the original material while pulling it firmly into the present.
Floors were refinished throughout in Bona Birch, a light, clear stain that keeps the main living areas feeling open and sun-washed. The stair posts and railings move in the opposite direction, stained in Bona Aged Pewter, a moody contrast that makes the vertical transition between floors feel considered rather than incidental.
Countertops were selected in two quartz materials: Calacatta Laza in a polished finish for its luminous quality, and Babylon Gray in a concrete finish elsewhere, grounding the warmer tones of the palette with something earthier and more textural.
